Initial Thoughts & Ideas and Research

The genre of music that my magazine will be focusing on/writing about is Electronica (Dub, Drum and Bass etc) I will be aiming my magazine at a niche audience of teenagers and young adults who are interested in this alternative dance genre. It will also be aimed at people who want to know about new upcoming acts before they reach the mainstream dance audiences. The only other magazine on the market that will bare resemblance to mine is Mixmag, i can better them by specifically targeting specific artists and DJs that the readers are most interested in/want to hear about.I think my product will be highly successful as it is a Unique Selling Point.I researched magazines to gather informatio-
n from a front cover, contents and double page spread article.

Above is the double page spread that I used to analyse.

The interview, above, has been catagorised with columns, this makes it easier for the readers, The photograph of the band takes up one of the pages of the article, a large funny quote is regulary used in the centre of the article to gain the reader's attention.

In addition to this, another typical feature of an article in a magazine, the first letter of the article is very big compared to the others. The colours used are simple yet effective, pink and purple alongside black and white. This article is named 'new noise' in the top left corner, this conveys they're a new band and possibly unsigned.
